Well, Honda is leaving no stone unturned to promote the 2011 Honda CBR 250R as it's global touring machine. It's not that Honda does not have Global Tourers!! As a matter of fact, Honda has some of the most luxurious and most sorted after tourers like the Honda Goldwing and the Honda VFR, but to put things into perspective, they are basically out of budget and reach of many. This is exactly where Honda is pitching in with the 2011 Honda CBR 250R as an affordable but yet ample fun Tourer.
The latest in Honda's promotional efforts for 2011 CBR 250R is the Honda TourinGlobe, a flash based game which is all about touring the world on the 2011 Honda CBR 250R. Very innovative and impressive I would say!!
Once you are into the game, you basically need to choose your bike and avatar and you start from Japan. The game allows your to control your motorcycle's speed using your mouse.
You move across different countries and the entire graphics looks like some Cartoon Network show and keeps you interested. On your way you keep meeting more and more contestants who are also logged in at the same time as you are. The game also shows your distance covered in due course.
Soon, even before you know, you are actually touring cross continents and meeting more more new people through this game. Very unique and innovative way from Honda to attract prospective customer and spread the message what the bike is all about and set expectations clear.
International reviews of the motorcycle also suggest that the bike is going to be one hell of a budget touring machine. The question remains, will the single cylinder 250cc liquid cooled engine have enough gas to challenge the mountains and twisties? well only time and some kick ass riding would be able to answer that.
A global touring bike is fine but the hallowed "CBR" branding which has been so far set exclusively for its track oriented track bikes confuses me a bit
ReplyDeleteBy the way, very innovative online game/promotion I would say.
ReplyDeleteTagging this as a CBR baffles my thoughts too!! The earlier Honda CBR 250R was actually a true blue CBR but NOT this one.
ReplyDeleteWell for the game... I got bored after playing it for 10 mins ;)... but nevertheless very innovative and well designed.
