MV Agusta F4, F3 and the Brutale have the reputation of being one of the most gorgeous looking piece of machine to be on motion on planet Earth, incepting from the neural network of Massimo Tamburini himself. But for the year 2012, the beauty got more brawn, specially the F4 RR.
It looks like most of the motorcycle manufacturers are going for the Bhp kill. So, let's see what's going inside the power house. Based on it's predecessor's engine platform, the 998cc, liquid cool, four-stroke engine, the F4 RR is it's higher spec version. Some of the spec changes that has been included in this new Corsacorta engine are-
- The bore has been increased by 3mm to 79.0mm.
- The stroke has been increased by 3.1mm to 50.9 mm.
- This more oversquare engine now revs upto 13,700 rpms.
- The valvetrain has been updated to 16 titanium valves.
- The diameter of the intake valve has been increased by 1.8mm to 31.8mm total.
- The diameter of the exhaust valve has been increased by 1mm to 26mm total.
- Variable inlet trumpets for each of the 49mm throttle bodies.

But a closer look at the specs reveal something strange about this new engine. It seems that none of this additional Bhp bump is being used to translate into the top speed of the bike, which, at 297.4 kmph is slower than it's predecessor engine, which was at 304.8 kmph. Instead of using the engine upgrades, MV has opted to tweak the internal gear ratios to translate the additional 15 Bhp to acceleration at the rear wheel. So, going by that, the new 2012 F4 RR Corsacorta to be smoother than it's predecessor and with different gear ratios.
So, now it would be very interesting to see the European clash for the throne.
