Earlier this year, we saw spy shots of some V-Twin smaller Cruiser being tested at the Gurgaon-Faridabad highway. From the looks of it, it was pretty clear, that it would be a small capacity cruiser, being made on a budget and with a very specific and wide target customer base in mind.
Well, from the first round of news and images that are coming from the 2013 EICMA, it's has now become pretty clear that, the spy pic cruiser is non other than the 2014 Harley Davidson Street 750 and 500.

The smallest capacity Harley Davidson yet, the Harley Davidson Street 750 and 500 should appeal to a large volume of potential customers, specially in India. Till date, the Harley Davidson SuperLow has been the most affordable motorcycle from Harley's stable. The addition of Street 750 and 500 should give a much wider range to Harley's portfolio in India.
Watch out for this space for more details on specs and numbers.

Wow.. this is interesting.. and looking very positive for Harley Davidson in India
ReplyDeleteYeah... and guessing that it would be made in India, I'm expecting a killer price specially for the 500 and if Harley manages to price it correct, then it would get real tough for Royal Enfield and Triumph Bonneville.
Deleteit wont get tough for RE dude dont lose your weight over that..it surely would get tough for Triumph surely !!
ReplyDeleteNot loosing my weight and stuff... it's just that many RE owners look forward at HD as the next logical upgrade, and if the 500 is pricing is right, then a person going for a RE 500 would definitely want to go that extra mile to get him or herself an HD (something that's happening currently between Duke 200 and Duke 390)
DeleteFor Triumph, yes I seriously feel that this delay in launching itself in India is going to cost it and with the competition building up, it's going to be a very uphill task for the English giant.
Sajal Bro, in most cases u r right, but think of this, I had a budget to go for the iron 800 but dint for few reasons the major one being HD are not meant for Indian roads !! I own a few RE bikes and the latest being the 500 UCE , now I bought it over all my other options because I can take it off road, zip 140kmph on good indian roads (which are rare). I can find a mech or fix my RE with ease anywhere.
DeleteNow put that against the HD, full tank iron gives me les than 200 kms - if u are doing leh tso moriri, ur jacked as there are no fuel pumps n u cant carry enough. then repairs and maintenance is a bomb for no serious output.
Hence my point is that the 500 RE customers would not be gung-ho about the HD 500 if they are serious riders. If we are talking about closet riders then I stand corrected and take a bow.
Btw, thanks for your kool reply, and I DO AGREE with you on the triumph story, they are delaying too much, I would stand in line to buy the STR if I get to know they are launching tomorrow :)
Yeah.. you're right.. the HD is a life style product and the HD dealership in India knows it and they behave also accordingly (in every aspect).
DeleteI have a few friends who own HDs (SuperLow and Iron 883) and the bud who rides the Iron 883, uses it for daily commute. So, basically it's like driving a small car for your daily commute but with a lot more character. HDs are definitely not for terrains like leh et' al for reasons you very aptly pointed out... it's more of a cosmopolitan urban tool and has it's own character and charisma, but then, it all boils down to the rider's choice. Also, HD cannot replace RE penny to penny, but it's an upgrade to RE and that's where the HD Street 500 and 750 comes in.
