“When what you are deeply passionate about, what you can be best in the world at and what drives your economic engine come together, not only does your work move toward greatness, but so does your life. For, in the end, it is impossible to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life. And it is very difficult to have a meaningful life without meaningful work. Perhaps, then, you might gain that rare tranquility that comes from knowing that you’ve had a hand in creating something of intrinsic excellence that makes a contribution. Indeed, you might even gain that deepest of all satisfactions: knowing that your short time here on this earth has been well spent, and that it mattered.”

BMW reveal raft of 2016 updates

BMW have released a mini torrent of 2016 updates across the range, including nips, tucks, tweaks and new colour palette – and all will be available from August 2015 onwards.
BMW F800GT
The GT gets new colour combinations:
  • Monolith metallic matt / Sapphire black metallic.
  • The paint finish Dark graphite metallic will no longer be available.
BMW R1200GS
The updated GS gets new colour options as well as banking-optimised [cornering] ABS Pro and the new dynamic brake light (in conjunction with the Riding Modes Pro option).
A new light white non-metallic replaces the existing Alpine white non-metallic, while the Black storm metallic options will no longer be available.
Return of the Black
Yes, the TripleBlack is back. The name says it all really on this R1200GS special edition.
The central fuel tank cover, fuel tank side panels and front mudguard are painted in Black storm metallic together with black anodised fork slider tubes, while the front and rear frame in Agate Grey in combination with the engine, gearbox and swinging arm.
The TB is fitted with the cross-spoke wheels with black gloss rim base familiar from the R 1200 GS Adventure, previously available as a special equipment feature. A new black-grey seat with striking GS logo on passenger seat rounds off the new look.
BMW R1200GS Adventure
The Adventure also gets the banking-optimised ABS Pro and the dynamic brake light (in conjunction with the Riding Modes Pro option), as well as new paint options of Racing red non-metallic matt and Ocean blue metallic matt.
Light white non-metallic replaces the existing Alpine white non-metallic, while the Olive non-metallic matt and Racing blue metallic matt are no longer available.
BMW R1200RT
Just some new paint for the RT, with Platin bronze metallic coming into the range, and Callisto grey metallic matt going out.
BMW R nineT
As of model year 2016, the BMW R nineT will be available with hand-brushed naked/exposed aluminium fuel tank with smoothed or visible welding seams – you decide, and the handy addition of heated grips.
BMW S1000RR
The RR is already a brand-new model, so no further tweaks, but a new colour option of Black storm metallic / Racing red non-metallic.
BMW S1000R
Not a lot going on with the R either, just a grained fuel tank trim, instead of the previous fuel tank with paint finish.
BMW S1000XR
The new for 2015 XR also gets the dynamic brake light as a special equipment feature in conjunction with the options ABS Pro and Riding Modes Pro (dynamic brake light currently for EU markets only).
BMW K 1600 GT / GTL / GTL Exclusive
As of model year 2016, the K 1600 GT / GTL and GTL Exclusive will get the banking-optimised ABS Pro and the dynamic brake light, and this colourful little lot:
  • New paint finish Cosmic blue metallic / Black storm metallic (GT)
  • New paint finish Ocean blue metallic matt (GTL)
  • New paint finish Sparkling storm metallic (GTL Exclusive)
  • The paint finish Sakhir orange metallic / Black storm metallic is no longer available (GT)
  • The paint finish Magnesium beige metallic is no longer available (GTL)
  • The paint finish Mineral white metallic is no longer available (GTL)
