Hero MotoCorp had been resting a lot of their future plans on their American subsidiary and technical partner, Eric Buell Racing (EBR). However, with the latter ceasing operations and going into receivership, their model development had come under danger of being jeopardized.
In the latest developments though, Hero MotoCorp Chairman, Mr. Pawan Munjal revealed that work on the much-awaited HX250R that was being developed by EBR, shall now be shifted to India. The company announced that they had purchased the relevant EBR assets pertaining to the HX250R and other new product developments, in-time, before the firm goes up for auction. Mr. Munjal further revealed that they are indeed in the market for technology sourcing tie-ups that would help nurture and support their R&D efforts. With their upcoming Innovation Centre being firmly on track for operations in the 2016 financial year, it will be interesting to see how the EBR developments shall be merged into the plans. Hero has invested significantly towards augmenting their new-product development capabilities and the new technical centre in Jaipur is expected to play a key role here.
With a 249cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor powering the Hero HX250R sports-bike, the company is hoping to catapult right back into the performance motorcycling game. The fuel-injected motor with power figures of 31Bhp and 26Nm torque should result in brisk performance, as it shall be pushing a mere 136 kilogrammes.Source: Motoroctane
