“When what you are deeply passionate about, what you can be best in the world at and what drives your economic engine come together, not only does your work move toward greatness, but so does your life. For, in the end, it is impossible to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life. And it is very difficult to have a meaningful life without meaningful work. Perhaps, then, you might gain that rare tranquility that comes from knowing that you’ve had a hand in creating something of intrinsic excellence that makes a contribution. Indeed, you might even gain that deepest of all satisfactions: knowing that your short time here on this earth has been well spent, and that it mattered.”

BMW Motorrad unveils India bound G310R

BMW's first and hotly anticipated small capacity motorcycle the G310R breaks cover, to be assembled at TVS Motor's Hosur plant.

BMW Motorrad unveiled its first ever small capacity motorcycle, the G310R, prior to its debut at the 2015 EICMA.

This will be the first BMW to be designed and engineered in Germany but assembled at TVS Motor's Hosur facility in India, and the first product to be launched as part of the two manufacturers' strategic alliance.

The G310R follows the same design language as BMW's explosive litre-class naked, the S 1000 R. The V-shaped headlight with golden-finished upside-down forks gives the front an aggressive look. The G310R gets a well-sculpted tank with tank extensions and a large exhaust.
Under its skin, the BMW G310R sports a 313cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 34PS and close to 28Nm of torque.

The G310R tips the scales at a fairly light 158.5kg. To ensure better efficiency, BMW has twisted the cylinder head around by 180 degrees thereby allowing a straight path for the fuel and air mixture.

BMW has spent a lot of time setting up shop as per their international standards at the TVS facility in Bangalore. All the machinery required to manufacture this motorcycle has been built in Germany and shipped to India to ensure typical BMW quality standards.
The G310R is expected to go on sale sometime next year in the country, and for a price sensitive market like ours, we believe TVS is also working on developing a new motorcycle, which was showcased as the TVS Draken at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi, around the same engine.

Details regarding the launch of the BMW G310R haven't been made public yet, but what we know for sure is that just like the Bajaj-KTM partnership the BMW-TVS joint venture will bring some happy days for bike enthusiasts.
