Honda CBR250RR to enter production in March 2016

Honda will produce the first batch of their CBR250RR sometime in March, 2016, with full-production to commence the following quarter. The motorcycle will be produced at the PT AstraHonda Motor (AHM) plant in Karawang which was commissioned sometime towards the end of last year. 

The CBR250RR is expected to hit showrooms in Indonesia in the third quarter of next year, with global exports slated to commence soon after. There has been no clear confirmation on whether this motorcycle will be sold here in India. If however, Honda does indeed bring this motorcycle to our shores, expect it to be sold alongside the existing CBR250R.

The Honda CBR250RR will go up in competition against the Yamaha R3, with both motorcycles dueling it out to see who’ll be crowned the newest track-side king. Powered by a twin-cylinder, 250cc motor, the CBR250RR should make somewhere in the region of 35 bhp and will come paired with a six-speed gearbox. Honda will equip the motorcycle with a lot of goodies, so expect to see upside-down forks (USD’s), LED’s dominating the optics, from the headlamps to the tail-unit. The CBR250RR will also sport clip-on handlebars and split seating like its CBR250R sibling, while sporting a high-capacity fuel tank. Braking duties will be handled by a disc-based setup at both, the front, as well as the rear. Suspension duties at the back will be handled by a mono-shock unit.

It will be interesting to see the final version of Honda’s Light Weight Super Sports Concept as it becomes a production reality. Pricing in Honda tradition is expected to be at the premium end and should be in the INR 2.7-2.9 lakh range.
