2016 Harley-Davidson CVO Pro Street Breakout
A term that was coined by hot rodders back in the '80s has worked its way into Motor Company verbage for 2016. Pro Street Breakout gives us Screamin' Eagle power with some drag racing flair, all in that sweet Softail chassis.
Fashionably late to the 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle lineup is the new CVO Pro Street Breakout. Sharp observers and/or Harley historians will remember this bike first “broke out” ofHarley’s Custom Vehicle Operations building in 2012 as the 2013 CVO Breakout (replacing the CVO Softail Convertible) and followed quickly by a non-CVO version a few months later with less chrome, a smaller engine, and a lower cost of entry. Now, a few years after reviving the long-n-low chopper, the leather-clad posse inside Harley’s CVO have revisited the Breakout.
2016 Harley-Davidson CVO Pro Street Breakout
The Pro Street Breakout is the only Softail in the CVO lineup that includes the CVO Street Glide, CVO Limited, and CVO Road Glide Ultra.
The 2016 “Pro Street” version goes back to the standards that all CVO models set, while marking new ground as well. A 110ci Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam engine sends the Pro Street down the road, as is CVO tradition, while a Screamin’ Eagle intake and blunt-cut pipes help the bigger powerplant breathe. This latest CVO Breakout gets a few other nifty performance upgrades, too, like the additional front brake rotor for double the stopping power and the 43mm inverted fork. A sleek headlight shroud, matching chin spoiler, and trimmed front fender are meant to exude drag-racer attitude. Same goes for the 240-section rear tire, though that’s always been a hallmark of the Breakout.
