We have just stumbled upon some interesting piece of information about TVS’ first product under the technology cooperation agreement with BMW Motorrad. So far we have been expecting the Indian automaker to dish out a naked motorcycle which looks not much different from its platform-mate, the BMW G310R. However, according to our new intel, the upcoming product codenamed U69 would be ….wait for it…a fully faired sportsbike!
To recap, the TVS U69 will be based on the same platform as the G310R (codename K03). While BMW Motorrad is fully responsible for the R&D, it’s Indian associate will take care of manufacturing both motorcycles in question. TVS’ Hosur mother plant is most likely to handle the production.
Going by the G310R, the TVS U69 fully faired sportsbike will be powered by a 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which employs a 6-speed gearbox. On board the Bimmer, the motor is tuned to generate 34 PS and 28 Nm of torque. It’s faired Indian sibling could feature a slightly different tune and gear ratios to suit its target audience.
By adopting different body styles, ergonomics and characters, the BMW G310R and TVS U69 can drastically reduce the chances of cannibalization. We expect both bikes to be present at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016 early next month.
