“When what you are deeply passionate about, what you can be best in the world at and what drives your economic engine come together, not only does your work move toward greatness, but so does your life. For, in the end, it is impossible to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life. And it is very difficult to have a meaningful life without meaningful work. Perhaps, then, you might gain that rare tranquility that comes from knowing that you’ve had a hand in creating something of intrinsic excellence that makes a contribution. Indeed, you might even gain that deepest of all satisfactions: knowing that your short time here on this earth has been well spent, and that it mattered.”

V-twin maker Carberry Enfield sets up plant in India

Royal Enfield motorcycles have been customised by individuals and customisation company all over the world. The reason Carberry Enfield stood out was because they built an 1000cc V-twin engine to power their customised Enfield. The Australia based company which shut down a few years ago has now established their base in India.

The V-twin motorcycles were completely hand built. Moreover, the engines were completely built ground up and not just two Royal Enfield 500cc engines mounted together. Carberry was in a developing phase with and made updates to engine with newer units. In total, Carberry Enfield built around 13 units before shutting shop.

The manufacturer has partnered with businessman Jaspreet Singh Bhatia and has setup a base in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. Carberry will benefit from the components being more readily available than they would be in Australia and the production costs would reduce as well. The crankcases for the custom engines are being cast and Carberry is looking for local aftermarket suppliers for engine components, clutch and transmissions.

Paul Carberry also mentioned that moving to India also has another advantage. Their Enfields were designed to use as many original parts as possible so that the bike could be fixed as easily as possible. 98 per cent of all Royal Enfields made annually are sold in India.
