TRIUMPH is recalling the new Bonneville Street Twin and Bonneville T120 over a potential fire risk from a fuel leak.
A total of 48 bikes are affected in the UK a recall notice on the Driver & Vehicle Standard Agency says:
There is a possibility of a fuel leak via fuel pump sub harness because of a problem with the moulding tool used to manufacturer the sub harness. A fuel leak could heighten the risk of fire.
The bikes are also being recalled in the US, where the the recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the fault was found in January after a development test bike was disassembled and found to have damaged insulation in one of the wires passing through the connector fitted to the fuel pump plate. Fuel was discovered between the insulation and wiring, which had travelled down the sealed main harness connector. Further investigation revealed that the fault originated during production.
A Triumph engineer met with the suppler of the sub harness at the end of January, who confirmed that the tooling used to make the faulty part had changed. Triumph has been working with the supplier to identify batches of affected bikes and parts
